Nearly 11% of the total workforce, work in supermarkets and grocery stores; in pharmacies, clothing, footwear, accessories and department stores; in hardware, building and garden suppliers; and in the motor vehicles, recreational and household goods trade.
The industry is forecast to continue to grow. Pharmaceutical and other store-based retailers is the industry’s second largest sector (providing 13.6% of jobs in retailing).
