Information held by MEGT about you could include: your name, current and previous address, telephone number(s), email address, passport details and bank account details.
Collection of your personal information
MEGT Institute collects your personal information
- on the initial application form
- from freely available ‘public domain’ information sources, eg telephone books
- from our own records of how and when you use our various services
- from third parties, such as previous employers or organisations you have dealt with in the past and volunteered by you as a reference for the purposes of credit checks prior to the opening of an account with us.
Where MEGT Institute collects personal information for inclusion in a record, it will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the individual is made aware of the purpose for which the information is being collected.
When you visit our website MEGT Institute may use cookies and IP address data in order to collect statistical information regarding website usage and for the operation of our affiliate programme. MEGT Institute does not match IP addresses with personal information.
How we use this information
We use your information to:
- to provide the service(s) you have requested. This may be payment for work done, or, invoicing for work done by one of our employees or the provision of training services and the reporting of results
- the management of those services to provide you with the optimum level of service for your individual needs
- to conduct appropriate credit checks
- to advise you of other services that we provide, that may be of interest to you or your organisation
- MEGT Institute also collects statistical information in order to improve the level of service provision.
Disclosure
MEGT Institute will only disclose information about you to others on an ‘as needs’ basis or where required by law. These people or organisations are:
- your authorised representatives or legal advisors
- credit providers for credit related functions such as the provision of account facilities Government & Statutory Authorities, where required by law, for example: the reporting of Training Results for a registered trainee
- other Divisions, (service providers) that form part of MEGT.
MEGT Institute does not provide or sell personal information to external companies for the purposes of marketing.
Have we got the right information?
MEGT Institute relies on students and clients to advise of changes in personal information in order to maintain a complete, accurate and up-to-date record. Wherever possible, when your personal information has changed we ask that you please contact MEGT Institute at the earliest possible convenience to advise us of these changed details.
If you do not ensure we maintain up-to-date personal information we may not be able to continue to provide a full range of services or may be unable to provide services altogether.
Data security
MEGT Institute will ensure that all reasonable safeguards are taken to ensure that the information it holds is protected against misuse or loss from unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure. MEGT Institute uses software that employs password security.
MEGT Institute may continue to maintain personal information after the provision of services ceases. Information that is no longer required will be either de-identified or destroyed after thirty years.
Your rights of access
You have the right to access and inspect any information we may hold about you, subject to some restrictions listed in Australian Federal Government Legislation.
If you would like to access this information, please contact us. You will be asked to establish your identity in writing with us, prior to the disclosure of any information.
