The CHC50908 Diploma of Children’s Services program consists of a set number of important core units and a flexible selection of elective units. The electives are chosen via consultation with advice from our industry-expert trainers to student and the employer to tailor a specific program that suits the needs of the individual and the child care business.
To enter this course you need the CHC30708 Certificate III in Children’s Services or its equivalent. All students must satisfy Police and Working with Children checks.

You may apply to have previous courses, formal qualifications, knowledge, work experience and/or life experiences assessed for credit or exemption towards this course.
A combination of classroom learning, resource development, practical sessions, role plays, research and project work, plus work placement in a children’s services environment are all vital components of MEGT Institute child care courses. As part of the course students are required to attend scheduled structured training for a minimum 20 hours per week which includes compulsory work placement.
A combination of in-class activities including simulations, role plays, written assessments, questions and discussions, written tests, skills demonstration, work samples, projects and work placement records will be used for the assessment of competency. Students will be assessed in the workplace against key learning outcomes.
For students studying on campus we arrange for our CHC50908 Diploma of Children’s Services Services students to undertake work placement with quality child care providers. This totals 416 hours, made up of 32 eight-hour days of supervised work (practicum) plus a block practicum of 4 five-day weeks.
International students must be at least 18 years of age and need to demonstrate English language proficiency at IELTS 6 or equivalent.
